Young voters are a big factor in Chittagong’s voting field

About six million young voters are becoming a big factor in Chittagong’s voting field. About 300,000 of them will vote for the first time. As the election time approaches, various calculations and analyzes are going on among the voters. Candidates are also running with various promises to the youth.

According to the data of the Election Commission, there are 5 lakh 77 thousand 571 voters aged 18 to 33 in the 16 constituencies of Chittagong. 3 lakh 66 thousand 360 people will vote for the first time. There is curiosity and interest among the new voters around the elections. Various discussions are going on among the youth to choose the preferred candidate. They want to choose the candidate who is technology friendly and will be with people.

Young voters will play a role in determining the fate of the candidate. Apart from the party initiatives, the candidates also promise to solve local problems to the youth. Various assurances including decentralization of power, employment and local development are gaining prominence.

Awami League nominated candidate for Chittagong-9 seat, Muhibul Hasan Chowdhury Naufel, said that this year’s promise is employment for the youth.

Solaiman Alam Seth, Jatiya Party nominated candidate for Chittagong-8 constituency, says, ‘My ancestors were also engaged in the development of Chittagong. I will stay too.’

However, the Election Commission has instructed the youth to check whether their name is on the list before going to the polling station.

In this context, Chittagong District Election Officer Mohammad Enamul Haque said that this time there is an interest in voting among the new voters.

This time there are 122 candidates in 16 constituencies of Chittagong. And from among them, a total of 63 lakh 14 thousand voters will elect their representatives in Parliament.
