World championship winning Australian cyclist Rohan Dennis has been arrested by the police. His wife Melissa Hoskins was injured in a car accident last Saturday. The former cyclist died in the hospital yesterday. Dennis was arrested soon after.

South Australian police say a 32-year-old woman was seriously injured in a car crash in Adelaide on Saturday. A 33-year-old man has been arrested for causing death by reckless driving and endangering life, police said in a statement. The affidavit also said that the driver was known to the woman and has been granted bail till next March.

Australian media say the man is Dennis and the deceased is his wife Melissa Hoskins. The BBC is also saying the same thing. Hoskins participated in the 2012 and 2016 Rio Olympics. Hoskins also won World Championship gold in the team event in 2015.

Hoskins and Dennis got married in 2018. They have two children. Dennis, who won gold at the world championships in road and track, won bronze at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. The cyclist, who won silver in the team event at the 2021 London Olympics, announced his retirement in 2023.
