A decorator worker died due to electrocution during the construction of a pylon at Akhaura in Brahmanbaria. Another person was injured in the incident.
This incident happened around 5 o’clock in the afternoon on Saturday.
Akhaura Thana Police Inspector (Investigation Officer) Safiqul Islam said, ‘Anisul Haque, the Minister of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, will come to Akhaura on January 26. On the occasion of his arrival, the construction of an arch in front of the police station on the road from Akhaura town to the check post was in progress. When the raw bamboo used for this came into contact with the electric wire, 2 decorator workers named Md. Hanif Mia (45) and Salim Mia (42) were electrocuted and fell down. After they were rescued and taken to Akhaura Health Complex, the doctor on duty declared Hanif Mia (45) dead and the other Salim Mia (42) is under treatment in the hospital with serious injuries.
The police officer said, ‘Selim himself is the owner of the decorator. The deceased Hanif Mia is the son of Atar Ali of Collegepapara. According to the investigation officer, the dead body was handed over to the family without an autopsy following the request of Runa Begum, the wife of the deceased. On the occasion of the arrival of the minister, the arch is being constructed in different places of Akhaura city.’
