A Malawian national was arrested with 8kg 300g of cocaine. Narcotics Control Directorate and APBN members arrested him from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Wednesday night.
The Drug Enforcement Administration says this is the largest cocaine shipment in the country’s history. The market value of the seized cocaine is over Rs 100 crore.
Narcotics Control Directorate Director (Operations) Tanveer Mumtaz gave this information in a press conference held at Tejgaon in the capital on Thursday afternoon.
The Director of Narcotics Control Department said that they already had secret information. Later, he was questioned after seeing the movement of the woman. At one stage, his bag was searched and 8 kg 300 grams of cocaine was recovered.
Tanveer Mumtaz said, in the initial interrogation, the woman said that she wanted to use Bangladesh as a transit. His aim was elsewhere.
Tanveer Mumtaz also said that this is the biggest shipment of cocaine in the history of the country. Its estimated market value is more than 100 crore rupees.
Ten years ago, a shipment of three and a half kilograms of cocaine was recovered, said Tanveer Mumtaz.
