Russian President Vladimir Putin has congratulated Sheikh Hasina for winning the 12th National Parliament election and being re-elected as the Prime Minister of Bangladesh. This time, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the country has expressed its opinion about this election of Bangladesh.
Maria Zakharova, spokesperson of the Ministry expressed her opinion as the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs through a post on the Facebook page of the Russian Embassy in Bangladesh. He congratulated the people of Bangladesh for holding the elections successfully.
Maria Zakharova said that the election of the National Parliament of Bangladesh held on January 7 has been observed. Awami League won 222 seats out of total 300 seats (originally 299 seats were elected). Once again the party got the majority support of the people. Congratulations to the people of Bangladesh for holding the elections successfully.
Expressing disappointment that some opposition parties did not participate in the elections, Zakharova said that there was pressure from outside as well. We were talking about that last November 22 and December 15. In that situation, the leadership of Bangladesh deserves praise for maintaining the process of elections by prioritizing the opinion of the voters. This election was found to be correct in the review of local and foreign observers (more than 200).
Earlier in a message on Thursday, Russian President Putin congratulated Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and said that Russia-Bangladesh relations are traditionally friendly. With Sheikh Hasina re-elected, the bilateral cooperation between the two countries will be strengthened, which will further contribute to the welfare of the people of the two countries.
