The Election Commission has fined Tk 1 lakh to boat candidate AKM Bahauddin Bahar and Tk 50,000 to Dhirendra Debnath Shambhu for violating the code of conduct. The election commission gave this decision after the hearing of two candidates on Wednesday afternoon.
Earlier, A K M Bahauddin Bahar, a candidate for Comilla-6 constituency, and Dhirendra Debnath Shambhu, a candidate for Barguna-1 constituency, appeared before the Election Commission to explain why their candidatures should not be cancelled.
According to the commission, they have violated pre-election irregularities and code of conduct several times. The Election Investigation Committee also sent them multiple show cause notices.
