The Great Victory Day was celebrated with due dignity at the Bangladesh Embassy in Rome, Italy. Ambassador of Bangladesh appointed in Italy. Monirul Islam formally hoisted the national flag at 10 am in the presence of embassy officials, employees and expatriates.
Later, a minute’s silence was observed and wreaths were placed on the portrait of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
In the second phase of the program, all the officials and employees of the embassy, leaders of various political, social and cultural organizations and expatriate Bangladeshis from all cities of Italy were present in the conference room of the embassy.
In this episode, the holy scriptures are read. On the occasion of the day, speeches by the President, Prime Minister, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Minister of State for Foreign Affairs were read and a documentary film titled ‘What does freedom mean to us’ was screened. In a special discussion meeting on the importance and significance of the day, invited domestic and foreign important persons and other guests warmly congratulated everyone on the occasion of Victory Day and praised the ongoing development journey of Bangladesh under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. The local leaders in their speech expressed their deep respect for Bangabandhu and all the martyrs and reiterated their strong conviction to realize the cherished dreams of Bangabandhu and the martyrs.
Paying deep respect to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the greatest ever father of the Bengali nation, Ambassador Monirul Islam mentioned in his speech that Bangabandhu’s hypnotic leadership was the main driving force behind Bangladesh’s independence.
He also said, ‘Bangabandhu dreamed of a happy, prosperous and discrimination-free “Golden Bengal”. In order to fulfill Bangabandhu’s dream, his daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been working tirelessly to transform Bangladesh into a developed country by 2041.
In this happy moment of the Great Victory Day, he called for the united coexistence of Bangladeshis living in Italy. The Ambassador sought the sincere cooperation and advice of the expatriates in order to raise the standard of service activities of the Embassy to the desired level. Referring to the current government’s expatriate-friendly policy, he highlighted various important steps taken by the embassy to ensure better service. Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, his martyred family members and all the martyrs of the Liberation War prayed for forgiveness and prayed for the future development and prosperity of the country.
At the end of the event, all those present were treated to lunch.
