Bangladesh Consulate General in Hong Kong celebrated Victory Day with due dignity on Saturday. Consul General Ms. Israt Ara, all officers and employees of the consulate, their families, members of the Bangladeshi community in Hong Kong and Bangladeshi children and adolescents were present at the event.
Md. The main program started with recitation from Holy Quran and recitation of Holy Gita conducted by Kamrul Hasan, Consul (Passport & Visa). Later, the Consul General hoisted the national flag with the participation of all present in the ceremony.
The Consul General then laid wreaths at the temporary memorial built at the consulate paying tribute to the martyrs of the Liberation War. A minute’s silence was then observed in memory of the martyred freedom fighters.
Later the speeches given by Hon’ble President, Hon’ble Prime Minister, Hon’ble Foreign Minister and Hon’ble Minister of State for Foreign Affairs were read on the occasion of Great Victory Day. A documentary on Victory Day was then shown. The guests who came to the event then participated in the discussion based on the history of the Liberation War.
At the beginning of his speech, the Consul General paid his deepest respect to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and all the martyred members of his family and all the brave freedom fighters who participated in the freedom struggle.
He said, under the visionary, courageous and magical leadership of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the Bengali nation has broken the chains of subjugation and brought the bright sun of freedom. Bangladesh today is recognized as a role model for development in the world under the visionary and strong leadership of his illustrious daughter Hon’ble Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina along the path indicated by Bangabandhu.
Finally, he presented the recent achievements of Bangladesh and the recent diplomatic success of Bangladesh in the international arena and urged all expatriate Bangladeshis in Hong Kong to work together to build a non-communal, hunger and poverty-free, discrimination-free and exploitation-free ‘Golden Bangla’ of Bangabandhu’s dream.
Praying for the forgiveness of souls for the martyrs in the liberation war, then prayers and prayers are offered. On the occasion of the day, an interesting cultural program was organized with the participation of children and youth based on liberation war plays. The function is concluded by entertaining and thanking the guests.
