BNP Standing Committee member Mirza Abbas’s verdict in the case of concealment of assets and acquisition of assets outside of known income has been delayed again. The court has fixed the next date on December 28.

The case was for judgment in the court of Judge Manjurul Imam of Dhaka Special Judge Court-6 on Tuesday. But the verdict was not ready. That is why the court postponed it to December 28.

ACC lawyer Mahmud Hossain Jahangir said that today was the day for the judgment of Mirza Abbas corruption case. The judge’s father is ill and hospitalized. So the judgment of the case is not ready. The judgment date has been fixed on December 28.

On November 22, ACC and the defendants presented their arguments, and the judgment date was set for November 30. However, as the judgment was not ready on that day, the court postponed it to December 12.

On August 16, 2007, ACC Deputy Director Md. Shafiul Alam filed a case against Mirza Abbas at the capital’s Ramna police station. After investigating the case, on May 24, 2008, ACC Deputy Director Md. Khairul Huda filed the charge sheet in the court.

In the investigation, Abbas was charged with illegal acquisition of assets worth Tk 423 million and concealment of property information of Tk 22 million. On June 16, 2008, Mirza framed charges against Abbas and ordered the trial to begin. During the trial, the court heard the testimony of 24 people.
