A Union Parishad (UP) member named Manchur Daldar has been suspended for absenting himself from 11 consecutive meetings in Jessore. The letter signed by Puravi Goldar, senior assistant secretary of the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives, has been told about his dismissal. Mashmimnagar UP Chairman Abul Hossain of Jessore’s Monirampur Upazila confirmed this on Monday.

Manchu Daldar was a member of Mashmimnagar Union Parishad of Monirampur Upazila in Jessore.

Mashmimnagar UP Chairman Abul Hossain said that Manchu Daldar has been accused of not attending 11 meetings of Union Parishad continuously. Which is an offense under Section 34(4)(b)(d) of the Local Government (UP Councils) Act, 2009.

The ministry’s letter has mentioned that the government feels that it is not appropriate from an administrative point of view to exercise the power of the Union Parishad through Manchu’s Daldar due to the commission of such a crime. He was temporarily suspended under the Local Government (Union Council) Act considering the criminal activities committed against the public interest including the Union Council. At the same time, the UP member has been asked to explain within 10 working days why he should not be expelled permanently. The Jessore District Commissioner has been recommended to take action in this regard.

While talking about this, UP member Manchu Daldar hung up the phone saying he was busy.
