Ukraine claims that the Russian Air Force shot down three Su-34 fighter jets. The country’s President Volodymyr Zelensky and his military officials said that the three warplanes were shot down on the southern battlefield of Ukraine on Friday. Reuters reported this information in a report.

The war between Russia and Ukraine has been going on for 22 months. Meanwhile, Zelensky and his army see yesterday’s success as a major achievement.

So far, neither the Russian army nor any other official in Moscow has commented on the incident. But bloggers in Russia acknowledged the damage. Military experts say that it is possible that the Ukrainian forces shot down these warplanes with Patriot missiles received from America.

In this regard, the news agency Reuters said that they could not immediately verify the authenticity of Ukraine’s claim.

Ukrainian Air Force Commander Mykola Oleshchuk wrote on messaging app Telegram that a Russian Su-34 fighter-bomber was downed in the southern region today (Friday) at noon.

In addition, the spokesman of the Ukrainian Air Force, Yuriy Ihanat, described the raid on state television as a ‘planned operation’.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky praised the anti-aircraft unit of the Odesa region in a video speech last night. He said that this unit destroyed enemy warplanes in the Kherson region.

The Odesa region was captured by Russian forces shortly after launching an invasion of Ukraine in February last year. Since then, Ukrainian forces have been trying to retake the area.
