Two groups of A.League counter-attacked in Munshiganj, injured 7

At least 7 people from both sides were injured in counter-attacks by both sides of Awami League in Munshiganj due to the conflict between the two groups over the control of local workers. This incident took place in West Charmuktarpur area of ​​Panchsar Union of Sadar Upazila after Jumma prayers at around 2 pm today.

Among the injured are Ismail Dewan (40), Roni (24), Sabuj (30) and Md. Ismail (50) has been admitted to Munshiganj General Hospital in critical condition.

In this incident, the situation is prevailing in the whole area. But the main accused are absconding. Additional police have been deployed at the spot to avoid violence.

Eyewitnesses and locals said that there was a long-standing dispute between Union Awami League executive member Shah Alam and Upazila Sramik League General Secretary Ismail Dewan Group over the control of workers employed in private industries. Based on that source, this attack happened.

Shahalam Group started spreading influence in the area as an independent candidate won in Munshiganj-3 seat in the 12th National Assembly elections recently. On the other hand, the supporters of the opposition Ismail Dewan group favored the defeated boat candidate of this seat. There is tension between the two groups over the control of local workers and the sharing of money. Based on that source, people from both sides engaged in a conflict after coming out of the mosque after Jumma prayers on Friday afternoon.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Sadar Police Station, Aminul Islam, said that the police are trying to arrest those involved in the incident. The counter-attack took place after the two sides quarreled after the Jumma prayers in a dispute over the control of a group of local workers. Police have been deployed at the spot to control the situation.
