Truck fire in Rajshahi, burnt driver in burn institute

A truck driver named Manik Das (42) was burnt in the fire set by miscreants in Rajshahi’s Bagha. Manik is the son of Guru Das of Patiya village in Magura Sadar.

He was brought to the Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery on Wednesday around 12:15 pm.

Manik’s brother Anand Das said, ‘My brother Manik Das is a truck driver by profession. He left Rajshahi for Jessore by driving a truck around 9 pm on Tuesday. On the way miscreants threw petrol bombs inside his truck and set it on fire. The truck immediately caught fire. Then my brother’s hand and face were burnt in the fire. First passers-by rescued him and took him to a local hospital in Bagha. Later taken to Rajshahi General Hospital. When the condition worsened there, he was brought to Sheikh Hasina Burn at night for better treatment.’

Tariqul Islam, resident doctor of Sheikh Hasina National Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute confirmed this. He said, a person named Manik Das was brought to our emergency department in a burnt condition from Rajshahi. He is currently under observation in the emergency department. By dressing, the amount of burns on his body will be known.
