Trafficker arrested with 9 gold bars worth crores of rupees

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) arrested a smuggler named Monirul Islam along with 9 gold bars worth crores of rupees while smuggling to India.

Khulna (21 BGB) battalion captain Lt. Colonel Mohammad Khurshid Anwar confirmed the matter. Monirul Hossain Sharsha is the son of Samchur Rahman of Goga village.

Lt. Colonel Mohammad Khurshid Anwar said that on Tuesday night Goga BOP patrol team arrested Monirul Hossain along with 9 gold bars, 1 mobile and 1 autovan near 42R pillar of border pillar 17/7S after getting to know from intelligence sources. The gold was recovered from his body in a special system.

The weight of recovered gold is 1 kg 22 grams, the current market value of which is Tk 1 crore 79 thousand 750. The bars were deposited at the Jessore Treasury on Wednesday morning. He also said that the accused has been handed over to Sharsha police station along with the mobile and autovan.
