There were fires in 3 places due to fireworks and lanterns

The Fire Service and Civil Defense received reports of fires at 3 locations across the country due to fireworks and lanterns flying during the Thirty First Night and English New Year celebrations. Among them, 1 fire occurred in Keraniganj Jinzira, 1 in Dhanmondi of the capital, 1 in Shahid Haroon Road of Jamalpur Sadar.

2 shops and 1 house were burnt in these fires. However, no casualty was reported in the incident. Fire Service and Civil Defense informed this information on Monday.

All the fire stations across the country are ready but 6 units of fire service and 30 manpower are working to fight these three fires.

It should be noted that on Sunday, the Fire Service and Civil Defense called for not flying fireworks and lanterns across the country.

Meanwhile, a teenager named Miraj (17) died of electrocution while organizing English New Year in Kaliganj of Gazipur. The incident took place at Chuariakhola village of Tumlia Union of the upazila around 8 pm on Sunday.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kaliganj Police Station Mahtab Uddin said, Miraj was electrocuted while connecting the electricity to play music in the sound box next to the house during the 31st night celebration. He was quickly rescued and taken to the Upazila Health Complex, where the doctor on duty of the emergency department pronounced him dead.
