Most of the stars, including cricketer Shakib Al Hasan, actor Ferdous, who entered the polls for the first time, are candidates for the boat. Discussed lawyer, Barrister Saidul Haque Sumon is contesting as an independent candidate in Awami League stronghold Habiganj-4 constituency. He is challenging Boat candidate, Minister of State for Civil Aviation and Tourism Advocate Mahbub Ali. Locals believe that there will be a tough fight between the two.

Film actress Mahia Mahi has become an independent candidate for Rajshahi-1 seat without getting nomination from Awami League. Boat candidate in this seat, current MP Omar Farooq Chowdhury. Mahi has announced to quit acting after the election.

Bangladesh Nationalist Movement, BNM candidate, vocalist Dolly Sayantani in Pabna-2 constituency. His strong rival in the election battle, Boat candidate Ahmed Feroz Kabir.
