Cricket, football or any other sport in Bangladesh is now dependent on Bangladesh Sports Education Institution (BKSP). Be it Shakib Al Hasan in cricket, U-19 World Cup winner Akbar Hossain, Mamunul Islam in football or Russell Mahmud Jimmy in hockey – most of the big stars in Bangladesh’s sports scene are athletes who have emerged from BKSP.

The BKSP football team has been banned by FIFA for one year. BKSP will not be able to participate in any domestic football competition in the next year! In a press release yesterday, Buffa announced the ban on allegations of fraud in player registration.

According to the statement, an agreement was reached with BKSP to play for Chawkbazar Kings Club in the Under-17 Third Division Football League which ended last August. According to the contract, the three players of BKSP who are supposed to play for Chawkbazar are Naimur Rahman, Hasan Mia and Mohammad Zifat. But three players of BKSP Mohammad Tasin Sahib, Ihsan Habib and Mohammad Rifat Kazi played using their names.

But when Tasin, Ihsan and Rifat registered using their real names during the registration of second division players, the fraud came to Bafoof’s attention. Then BAFFE instructed these three not to play for BKSP in the second division, they were also given a show cause notice. All three confessed to the crime to Buff.

The statement also said that the students told BUFFE that BKSP coach Rabiul Islam knows about disguised play and through him three footballers played in Chawkbazar Kings. Rabiul Islam himself was the coach of Chawkbazar. Because of that reason, BAFF thinks that Rabiul Islam cannot avoid the crime of concealing the information of three players. On the other hand, the head coach and manager of Chawkbazar was Shahinul Haque, the senior football coach of BKSP. BKSP was then alerted to this whole incident and instructed these players not to play.

But BKSP was not alerted and again concealed the information and registered another student named ‘Ikramul Islam’ as ‘Tahsan Hossain’ in the second division league. Ikram also played several matches under the name ‘Tahsan’. But after the BKSP-Arambagh Football Academy match in the second division league on November 24, Arambagh protested and brought the matter to the notice of BAFUF.

In view of this, BAFFE announced the punishment in a press release yesterday after the investigation. BKSP has been banned from domestic football for the next one year, along with a fine of Tk 1 lakh, as per the recommendation of Buff’s disciplinary committee. BKSP has also been relegated from the current second division league. In the Arambagh-BKSP match held on November 24, Arambagh was declared a 3-0 winner. The other matches they played and the opponents in the upcoming matches were declared as 3-0 winners.

The four players who changed their names, Tasin, Ikram, Ihsan and Rifat, were banned for six matches. BKSP’s senior football coach Shahinul Haque and coach Rabiul Islam have been banned from football-related activities for one year. Both have been fined Rs 25,000.
