The police recovered the half-decomposed body of a girl child from the Arial Khan river in Madaripur’s Shibchar. He is approximately 12 years old. However, his identity is still unknown. The police said that the process of identifying the identity is going on.
The body was recovered from Bablatla area of Shibchar upazila on Tuesday morning.
The police and the locals said that the locals informed the police after seeing a body wrapped in a sack floating in the Arial Khan river. Later, the police came and recovered the body and sent it to the mortuary of the District Headquarters Hospital for post-mortem. According to the police, the miscreants threw the child’s body in a sack after strangulation. The child has bruises on different parts of his body.
Confirming the matter, Madaripur Shibchar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Subrata Goldar said, the body was wrapped in a sack. Bricks were also found inside the bag. However, the identity of the child is yet to be found.
The OC also said that it is believed that someone dumped the body in the river after the murder. The body has been recovered and sent to Madaripur Sadar Hospital morgue for post-mortem. Legal action will be taken after identification.
