The mass vaccination program for malaria has started in the African country of Cameroon. This is the first effective mass vaccination program against malaria in the world. The British media BBC says that through this vaccine, the lives of millions of children in Africa can be saved.

The mass vaccination program started on Monday with the vaccination of a girl named Daneila. Cameroon is offering this vaccine called RTS,S for free to all children up to 6 years of age. A total of 4 doses should be taken.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), 600,000 people die every year in Africa due to malaria. More than 80 percent of them are children.

American researchers said that this vaccine called RTS, S is 36 percent effective against malaria. This means that one in three children could be saved from dying.
