Yesterday, the United States and the United Kingdom carried out airstrikes on 36 targets of the Houthi rebels in Yemen. The two countries say the move comes in response to repeated attacks by Houthi rebels on commercial ships in the Red Sea. The news agency AFP reported this information.

The United States launched strikes on Iranian installations in Syria and Iraq on Friday in retaliation for the killing of American soldiers in Jordan. A day later, the United States and the United Kingdom launched this joint attack on Yemen.

In a statement, the United States, Britain and other countries that supported the operation said in a statement that 36 Houthi targets were attacked in 13 places in Yemen. The attack was carried out in response to the Houthis’ continued attacks on commercial ships in the Red Sea. The Houthis threaten global trade and the lives of innocent seafarers. Perfect attacks are launched to disrupt and degrade their activities.

According to the Central Command of the military (CENTCOM), the US forces shot down six Houthi missiles on Saturday. They also downed eight more Houthi drones and destroyed four more near Yemen.

The Houthis have been attacking commercial ships in the Red Sea since last November, supporting the Palestinians in the Israel-Hamas war in Gaza. In response to this attack, the United States and the United Kingdom are retaliating against the Houthis.
