Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), the party of former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan, said the Election Commission had canceled its party symbol for political reasons. Pakistan’s broadcasting media Geo News has given this information in a report.
The Election Commission of Pakistan canceled PTI’s election symbol ‘bat’ last Friday. In a statement, the Election Commission said, a five-member ECP bench headed by Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja decided to cancel the PTI symbol. At the same time, the ECP declared the party’s internal elections illegal.
Meanwhile, PTI strongly condemned this decision of ECP. Gahar Ali Khan, the current chairman of the party, said that the decision to cancel the party symbol is deeply conspiratorial. We will go to court to challenge this decision of ECP.
Gahar Ali Khan said that there was concern about the Election Commission and said, “We had concerns about the ECP from the beginning.” ECP monitors PTI like no other party.
Gahar Ali Khan also claimed that PTI has conducted its internal elections according to the constitution and constitution of the party. He said, we have asked the ECP whether any law or constitution of PTI has been violated in the internal elections of PTI.
Gahar Ali Khan said the decision to cancel the symbol was undoubtedly politically motivated. ECP has long planned to take away the symbol from PTI.
National elections are scheduled to be held in Pakistan on February 8 next year. PTI has received a big shock with the announcement of canceling the party symbol when it is preparing ahead of the elections.
Imran Khan, founder of PTI and former Prime Minister of Pakistan, has been in jail for several months in various cases including corruption and sedition. Political analysts feel that there is no possibility of Imran Khan’s release from prison before the elections.
