The Strawberry Train to Aranjuez resumes its trips this Saturday with a total of 38 tourist routes, in addition to including a trip on a historic train between the capital and Aranjuez, departing from the Railway Museum, and a day at the Royal Site , a city declared a World Heritage Cultural Landscape by UNESCO in 2001.

The Strawberry Train is a joint initiative of the Spanish Railways Foundation and its Madrid Railway Museum, the Community of Madrid, the Aranjuez City Council and National Heritage. The trip is made along the second railway line of the Peninsula, inaugurated in 1851 by Queen Elizabeth II. a route of around 50 kilometers, the Foundation reported in a statement.

The Railway Foundation has chosen the motto ‘Keep dreaming’ for the 2024 season in which the Strawberry Train turns 40, becoming the dean of the country’s historic trains.

The campaign will have two parts, the first of them in spring, with 26 trips, from March 30 to June 30. In autumn there will be 12 circulations, from October 5 to November 10. The train journey begins at 10 a.m. at the Madrid Railway Museum, located in the historic Delicias station, to which it will return around 7:30 p.m.

There are several possible routes to complete the journey on the historic train. The ‘Natural Strawberries’ offer exclusively includes the round trip on the train. Travelers who opt for this offer can be accompanied by pets weighing up to 40 kilos. In addition, different tourist, cultural and leisure options are added:

‘Fresas con Nata’ will travel on the Chiquitrén (the Aranjuez tourist train) and offer a guided tour of the historic gardens of Parterre and the Island.

‘Fresas del Tajo’ will travel along the Tagus River on the tourist boat and will take a guided tour of the historic gardens of the Parterre, the Island and the Prince, while ‘Fresas Reales’ will visit the Royal Palace of Aranjuez and the historic garden of the Prince. A visit to the Royal Falúas Museum is also included.

‘Fresas Ciclistas’ will be a guided cycling route on electric bikes through the orchards and groves of Aranjuez and guided walking tours through the historic gardens of Parterre and the Island. They will be offered, this spring, on three Sundays: April 21, 12 and 26 of May.

‘Fresas con Música’ combines the architectural and natural heritage of Aranjuez with special performances from the XXX Aranjuez Early Music Festival on dates yet to be defined next fall, and ‘Fresas de la Huerta’, on April 27, May 11 and 25, offers a guided tour of the historic orchards and the Huerta de Aranjuez Interpretation Center, as well as a guided walking tour of the historic gardens of the Parterre and the Island.

You can also enjoy the combined ‘Nata del Tajo’ route through the center of Aranjuez in the Chiquitrén and the boat tour of the Tajo, as well as ‘Nata Real’, which combines the Chiquitrén with a detailed visit to the Royal Palace, and ‘Tajo Real’, which will offer a river trip along the Tagus combined with a guided tour of the Royal Palace.
