The police have unraveled the mystery of the murder of housewife Sukhi Akhter (19), whose body was recovered from the slope of the flood control embankment in Charpara village of Taltali, Barguna. He was killed in a planned manner due to a family feud. The body of the housewife was left half-naked to divert the murder. Taltali police arrested four people in this incident. Taltali Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Shahidul Islam Khan confirmed the matter.

The arrested accused are the housewife’s husband Hasan Sardar, father-in-law Saiful Sardar, mother-in-law Maina Begum and cousin Debar Abdullah.

The accused were sent to Amtali Senior Judicial Magistrate Court on Saturday. Later in the afternoon they were sent to Barguna Jail by the court. At the same time, if a remand application was made for questioning in police custody, the court fixed the date of remand hearing on February 6.

According to police and local sources, Sukhi Akhter, daughter of Babul Fakir of Gendamara village, got married to Hasan Sardar, son of Saidul Sardar, of Charpara (Nakri) village of Taltali upazila, a year ago. After the marriage, the housewife Sukhi was not getting along with her husband and in-laws. Husband and mother-in-law used to torture housewife Sukhi for trivial incidents. This has been settled several times with locals. Babul Fakir, the father of the deceased, made such a complaint.

According to the Taltali police station after the preliminary investigation, due to a family dispute, Hasan Sardar, the husband of the housewife and his father-in-law Saiful Sardar went to the sea for fishing on January 27 last month. After secretly coming from that sea, husband Hasan Sardar took the housewife from the house and killed her and left her body next to the flood control embankment of Taltali Charpara area. They half-undressed the corpse of the housewife to divert the murder. Let everyone understand that the housewife was killed after rape.

But the police took husband Hasan Sardar, father-in-law Saiful Sardar, mother-in-law Maina and cousin Debar Abdullah into police custody on suspicion of involvement in this incident. They were interrogated last Friday night. At one stage they admitted to be involved in the incident.

Fatema Begum, the mother of the victim of the murder on Friday night, filed a murder case against the unknown accused as the plaintiff. On Saturday, the police arrested the four people who were detained after receiving preliminary evidence of their involvement in the murder. Amtali later surrendered in the court of Senior Judicial Magistrate and applied for remand for questioning in police custody. In the afternoon, they were sent to Barguna Jail by the court. The court has scheduled their remand hearing on February 6.

Shahidul Islam Khan, OC of Taltali Police Station said, ‘During the initial interrogation, the four arrested including the husband Hasan Sardar have admitted their involvement in the incident. They have been sent to Amtali Senior Judicial Magistrate Court. At the same time, a remand application was made against them for questioning in police custody. The court has scheduled the hearing of the remand application next Tuesday.

It is mentioned that housewife Sukhi Akhtar went missing last Wednesday night. Locals found the housewife’s body on the slope of the flood control embankment next to her husband Hasan Sardar’s house on Friday morning, two days after she went missing, with a muffler wrapped around her neck, a burqa and a shawl half open from her body. On receiving the information, the police recovered the body of the housewife and brought it to the police station.
