5 hours after the complaint of abduction of a rape victim from the One Stop Crisis Center (OCC) of Khulna Medical College Hospital, the police opened up. They claim that the woman was not kidnapped.
The police have released Md Tauhiduzzaman, chairman of Rudaghra Union Parishad of Dumuria upazila of Khulna, who was detained in this incident.
A woman was admitted to the OCC of Khulna Medical College Hospital last Saturday night. The woman alleged that she was raped. Some people forcibly took the woman and her mother to a microbus around 5:30 pm on Sunday. At that time, they misbehaved with the human rights activists and journalists present there.
Eyewitnesses said that those people took the woman and her mother like a movie.
About 5 hours after the incident, the police brought the victim to Sonadanga Model Police Station. Officer-in-Charge (Investigation) Md. Aminul Islam claimed that there was no incident of abduction.
Aminul said, ‘After receiving complaints of abduction from human rights workers and journalists, the family of the victim was contacted and brought to the police station. They said there was no incident of abduction.’
At that time, when the journalists wanted to talk to the rape victim, she said, ‘I am sick, I will give details after I recover.’
