The Prosecutor’s Office will investigate the delay in breast cancer screening in 150,000 women in the Botànic stage

The Valencia Provincial Prosecutor’s Office has agreed to open investigation proceedings to determine the “possible typicality” of the facts reported by the Patient Advocate Associationafter the Ministry of Health reported that it is investigating delays of 150,000 preventive cancer mammograms during the Botanic period of government.

The president of that association, Carmen Floresindicated in the complaint that he considered that this entails a “situation of irreversible worsening if cancer is detected” and demanded that the veracity of these data be investigated due to the “risk to the health or life of women and the abandonment of their functions as who have not taken precautionary measures.”

The decree issued by the Prosecutor’s Office, against which there is no appeal, agrees “pre-procedural investigation proceedings in order to carry out whatever actions are necessary to determine the possible typicality of the reported facts” and indicates that it has appointed an investigating prosecutor to take charge of them.

It also points out that to date “the identity of the people considered suspicious is unknown,” that the facts investigated “do not constitute a crime” and that it has been proven that there is “no evidence of the existence of any judicial procedure for these facts.”
