The price of rice has started to decrease in different parts of the country. But in many places it is being sold at an additional price. In Natore and Dinajpur, the price of rice has decreased by one and a half to two rupees, but in Naogaon and Bogra, the price of rice has not decreased. Meanwhile, on Thursday, the mobile court seized 5,000 sacks of paddy from a warehouse in Dinajpur due to illegal stockpiling.

Two weeks ago, the price of all types of rice in Natore increased by Tk 5 to Tk 6 per kg. Thursday reduced by one and a half to 2 rupees per kg.

In Khajanagar, Kushtia, the price of rice has decreased by one rupee per kg. However, the impact was not seen in the retail market. Rice is being sold at a higher price in the wholesale and retail markets of Bogra.

Chittagong and Naogaon markets are stable with increased prices. A 50 kg bag of coarse rice is selling at Tk 2,200 to Tk 2,450 and a thin rice bag is selling at Tk 3,300 to Tk 3,450.

In Dinajpur three days ago, miniket rice was sold at Tk 65 per kg. However, on Thursday it was sold at 63 Tk. Bri-28 rice is selling at Tk 58, Gutiswarna at Tk 45 and Suman Swarna at Tk 50, down by Tk 1 to Tk 2 per kg.

Meanwhile, the traveling court seized 5,000 sacks of paddy from an organization called Oriental Agro in Dinajpur on charges of illegal stockpiling. The warehouse has been sealed.

Earlier, Food Minister Sadhan Chandra Majumder held several meetings with the mill owners on Wednesday and Thursday. Then the minister warned the traders to reduce the price of rice. He also said that action will be taken against illegal hoarders.
