The polls are peaceful across the country except for two isolated incidents: IGP

Bangladesh Inspector General of Police (IGP) Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun said that the polling was going on peacefully except for two isolated incidents across the country including Dhaka. He said voters are voting in a festive atmosphere.

The IGP said this to the reporters after visiting the Kabi Nazrul Government College polling station in Old Dhaka around 11:30 on Sunday.

The IGP said voting is a citizen’s right. Police will take strict action against those who sabotage the polling. Bangladesh Police is ready to deal with any kind of anarchy.

This top police official said that the voters are exercising their right to vote peacefully, saying that they are getting information about the presence of voters from different parts of the country.

The IGP said, “We guarantee that the voters can exercise their right to vote in a peaceful and fair environment.” If a voter faces obstruction or reports any vandalism, report it to 999. Our various teams are ready to assist you.
