Since 2015, there has been no state minister in the home ministry. However, the Ministry of Home Affairs is going to get the Minister of State in this year’s cabinet. The engineering department has confirmed that a room is being prepared for the home minister in the secretariat. However, it was not confirmed who is coming to this duty.
A source in the secretariat says that an important leader from the middle ranks of Awami League is coming to this responsibility.
Asaduzzaman Khan served as the state minister in this ministry. He held this position till 14 July 2014. Later he was given the responsibility of minister of the same ministry. He is still serving as the Minister of Home Affairs.
An official of the engineering department said on condition of anonymity that a room has been ordered to be made for the state minister on the third floor of the home ministry. It has been asked to start the work next Friday and finish it by Saturday.
Awami League led by Sheikh Hasina has been elected for the fourth consecutive time by getting 222 seats in the 12th National Parliament Election. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is going to form the government for the 5th time.
Newly elected parliamentarians took oath at Jatiya Sangsad Bhawan on Wednesday. The new members of the cabinet will take oath at Bangabhaban next Thursday evening.
A source in the cabinet department said that the new cabinet may be formed with 42 members. Though sworn in on Thursday, their office will be distributed later. More than 40 cars are said to have been prepared for the cabinet members.
