Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal has urged the two groups of Muslims to successfully complete the Ijtema by ensuring peaceful coexistence in the World Ijtema organized by Tabligh Jamaat. He made this call in the preparatory meeting of Ijtema at Biswa Ijtema Maidan in Tongi, Gazipur on Monday afternoon.
Addressing the two groups of worshippers, the minister said, ‘I want to say to Jobair’s group, you are coming first in view of the demand. Will hand over the field to the Muslims of the second phase with respect. This will be my request to you. We want Bangladesh’s heritage World Ijtema to be peaceful. By looking at the preparation of the meeting, it was understood that our organization is well organized. We will be able to complete the Ijtema successfully and beautifully.’
In response to a question from journalists, Asaduzzaman Khan said that there will be CCTV, watch tower for the security of the worshippers. We will all have a collective effort to prevent any mishap. RAB, army along with cyber unit of police will be there to maintain law and order.
At that time, Minister of Religion Faridul Haque Khan said, ‘We work to please Allah in the work of religion. The difference between us there is very sad. Especially pilgrims from different countries of the world come to you.
In the event, Inspector General of Police Abdullah Al Mamun said to the top instructors of Ijtema, “The young generation will learn manners, lehaj, harmony from you. We do not want your enmity.’
Minister of Liberation War Affairs AKM Mozammel Haque, Minister of Religion Farid Uddin, Local Member of Parliament Zahid Ahsan Russell, Police Commissioner Mahbub Alam, Deputy Commissioner Abul Fateh Mohammad Safiqul Islam also spoke in the meeting.

Referring to the various initiatives taken for the convenience of the pilgrims coming to this year’s Ijtema, the organizers said that there will be four levels of security for the safety of the pilgrims at the World Ijtema. More than 6,000 law enforcement personnel will work inside and outside the Maidan. Besides, more than two hundred CCTVs, 14 watch towers will be constructed. Water will be supplied through 18 deep tube wells.
Besides, special bus and train services will be started for the pilgrims. Besides, various plans and initiatives for traffic control were presented in the meeting.
This time the World Ijtema is being held at separate times between the two groups. In the first phase, Zubair’s group will perform Ijtema on February 2-4. In the second phase, Wasiful Group’s Ijtema will be held on February 9-11.
