Own Correspondent, the High Court has ordered the appointment of 285 physically challenged persons who participated in the oral examination for the appointment of teachers in Dhaka 2018 and 2020 on the basis of 10 percent quota.
The High Court bench of Justice Naima Haider and Justice Kazi Zeenat Haque passed this order on Sunday.
In the order, the court said that the protection of the rights of the disabled is now an international issue. According to the law and constitution of the country, they will get priority in recruitment on the basis of merit.
After the final hearing on December 11 last year on the quota-based recruitment rule for 285 physically challenged persons in government primary schools, the day was fixed for the verdict on January 14.
The writ filed by Advocate Siddique Ullah Mier challenged the legality of non-recruitment from the disabled quota. There, the secretary of the Ministry of Primary and Public Education, the secretary of the Ministry of Public Administration and the director general of the Directorate of Primary Education were made defendants.
