The High Court has directed the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) of Dhaka to accept bail applications in 9 separate cases against BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and dispose of them according to law.
Justice Mustafa Zaman Islam and Justice Md. The High Court bench of Atabullah gave this order. At the same time, the High Court has issued a ruling asking why it will not be illegal to not accept the bail application for hearing.
Earlier on Sunday, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir filed a writ in the High Court challenging the validity of not accepting the bail application in 9 cases.
As seen in the writ, the cases are under trial in the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CMM) court of Dhaka.
Senior lawyer Zainul Abedin heard on behalf of Mirza Fakhrul in the court today, accompanied by lawyer Sagir Hossain Leon. Deputy Attorney General Tushar Kanti Roy appeared for the state.
