The Cabinet Committee on Procurement has approved the proposal to purchase more than 3 million metric tonnes of fuel oil. 33 thousand 955 crore 58 lakh rupees will be spent on the 15 proposals approved in the meeting on Wednesday. Out of which 32 thousand 167 crores will be spent from government funds and 1 thousand 789 crores from domestic banks and foreign financing.
After the meeting, Additional Secretary of the Cabinet Division, Syed Mahbub Khan, said that under the Department of Energy and Mineral Resources, Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation-BPC will buy 800,000 metric tons of crude oil from Saudi Aramco in 2024. Where 6 thousand 407 crores will be spent.
Syed Mahbub Khan also said that BPC will buy 7 lakh metric tons of crude oil from Abu Dhabi company Adonc for 5 thousand 808 crore 52 lakh taka. Besides, BPC will buy 15 lakh 65 thousand metric tons of refined fuel oil in international quotation process from January to June 2024 for Tk 13 thousand 600 crore.
The tariff for setting up 100 MW wind power plant in Satkhira district for Bangladesh Power Development Board was approved in the procurement committee meeting. At the rate of 13 taka 52 paisa, approximately 5 thousand 687 crore taka will be spent in 20 years.
