The Government begins the journey of the Artistic Education Law

The President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, has met with representatives and professionals of the plastic arts and design, creative writing, music and performing arts, with whom he has analyzed the content of the Artistic Education Law, the first regulation on this sector in 30 years. The meeting took place at the Moncloa Palace, where Sánchez He has been accompanied by the Minister of Education, Vocational Training and SportsPilar Alegría.

“We are committed to the dignity of learning and the study of these disciplines. For the first time in 30 years, we have a law that will definitively benefit educational centers, teachers, students and the entire artistic and cultural sector”Sánchez pointed out on the of the PP.

Artists attended the event at Moncloa such as the designer Javier Mariscal, the actor Josep María Pou, the baritone Carlos Álvarez, the dancer César Casares, the singer Isabel Villagar and the writer Chiki Fabregat, according to the Government in a statement. Also present were the representatives of the Confederation of Schools of Plastic Arts and Design (CEA), Ainoa Martín, Rosa Esteban and Eugenio Vega; the director of the School of Writers, Javier Sagarna, and the director of the Royal Higher School of Dramatic Art, Pablo Iglesias Simón, among others.

The new law, which will affect some 140,000 students and more than 14,000 teachers, regulates higher artistic education, of their centers and their teachers and includes the rights and duties of the students. It also opens the door for communities to propose to the Government the creation of new teachings related to other disciplines with a territorial presence, such as the circus.
