A contractor named Johnny (35) was seriously injured in an attack by miscreants in Naogaon. A group of 8/10 people wearing helmets and masks attacked him in Hotel Mallika Inn area of Naogaon-Santahar road on Wednesday night. The injured contractor was admitted to Naogaon Sadar Hospital for treatment.
The injured Johnny is the son of deceased Abu Bakkar Siddique, a businessman of Santahar in neighboring Bogra district. He is involved in contracting business. Naogaon’s son-in-law Johnny Paur is the husband of Awami League president Dewan Chekar Ahmed Shishan’s niece.
The police and the relatives of the injured Johnny said that Johnny was returning home from Naogaon on a motorcycle after work at around 9 pm on Wednesday. When he reached in front of Mallika Inn Hotel on Naogaon-Santahar road, 8 to 10 people wearing helmets and masks barricaded his motorcycle. He was then ambushed and attacked. On receiving the information, the police visited the spot.
When asked around 12 noon on Thursday, injured Johnny’s brother Soni said, ‘My brother was returning home after work last night. When I reached the place called Hotel Mallika Inn on Naogaon-Santahar Road, suddenly 8-10 people wearing masks blocked my brother’s way and beat him up.’
Asked whether he knew anyone because of enmity or what, Soni said, ‘Currently we are busy with his treatment at Sadar Hospital. No complaint has been made to the police station in this regard yet.’
Confirming the attack, Officer In-charge (Investigation) of Sadar Police Station Abdul Ghafoor said, ‘As soon as we got the news, we went to the spot and rescued the injured person and made arrangements to admit him to Naogaon Sadar Hospital. If there is any complaint from the family, legal action will be taken.
