Actor Lee Sun-kyun of Oscar-winning South Korean film ‘Parasite’ has died. He was found dead in a car in the country’s central Seoul park on Wednesday (December 27). The local media reported this information citing the police.
Lee Sun-kyun was 48. South Korea’s Yonhap news agency reported that Lee left the house shortly after his wife informed police that she had found a document that appeared to be a suicide note.
In addition, according to a Deutsche Welle report, police officials earlier said they found Lee unconscious at an undisclosed location in the capital, Seoul. It is not clear whether he committed suicide.
Before this, Lee was under investigation for illegal drug use since last October. He claimed that he was induced to take drugs.
Incidentally, ‘Parasite’ directed by Bong Joon Ho was released in 2019. Where it was shown, the members of a poor family find a way to change their lives by infiltrating the rich Park family. The film was the first foreign language film to win the Oscar for Best Picture in 2020.
Lee Sun-kyun plays the lead role of a wealthy family in this Oscar-winning movie. He received Screen Actors Guild Award in 2021 for his performance in this role.
