Jalal Uddin Fakir, Convenor of Amtali Upazila BNP, was expelled from the party after the leaked audio of sending workers-supporters to the center to vote for an independent candidate in exchange for money.

In a press release signed by Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, Senior Joint Secretary General of Bangladesh Nationalist Party BNP, he was expelled from all positions including primary membership of BNP on specific charges of involvement in activities against party discipline.

It is known that BNP has been struggling to thwart the 12th National Assembly elections. But Amtali upazila BNP convenor Jalal Uddin Fakir has left the movement and has been exchanging huge sums of money with an independent candidate, party leaders and activists have alleged.

Talking about strengthening the movement, BNP convener Jalal Fakir called the president and general secretary of all unions of Amtali upazila to his relative’s house on December 27.

In that meeting, Jalal Uddin Fakir said to the leaders and activists, ‘An independent candidate has been proposed and if they vote for him, he will give one lakh taka for the expenses of each union. At the moment, the activists have no money. BNP leaders and activists including the incumbent Chhatra Dal, Juba Dal will not be able to enter the field. But ordinary workers and supporters will go to the center and vote.’

At such a time, BNP member secretary Tuhin Mridha was heard to say, ‘For so little money, why leave the movement and struggle and send workers and supporters to the polling station.’ In response to such a question, Jalal Fakir said, ‘I have hunger in my stomach. Can anyone pay 50 thousand, 100,000 taka in the struggle? Can only pay 5 thousand 10 thousand.

In that audio, it is also heard saying, ‘It is permissible to eat the money of the infidels. If the election is held on the 7th, Forkan Mia will be the MP. We have no problem with that.’

Jalal Fakir also said, ‘The money will be given in two installments – half in the middle of the election, and the other half on the day of the election.’ It is also heard in that audio, ‘Jasim and Rustam brothers, what do you say?’

In that 10-minute audio, many of his secrets have come out. If this secret audio is leaked, there is anger among the party leaders and workers. The activists have demanded to take organizational action against Jalal Fakir, who is conspiring against the party.

Various national newspapers published reports about such audio leak of Jalal Fakir. The central leaders of BNP are sitting on the floor. In a press release signed by Senior Joint Secretary General of Bangladesh Nationalist Party BNP, Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, on Wednesday, Jalal Uddin Fakir was expelled from all positions, including primary membership, of BNP.

Amtali Upazila BNP’s expelled convener Jalal Uddin Fakir’s mobile phone was contacted, but his phone was switched off.

Central BNP co-organizing secretary (Barisal divisional in-charge) Akon Quddusur Rahman said, “According to the decision of the party’s high command, Jalal Uddin Fakir has been expelled from all positions including the primary member position of BNP.”
