The police recovered the bloody body of a domestic worker named Preeti (13) from under a house on Shahjahan Road in Mohammadpur of the capital. In this incident, the housekeeper and housekeeper of the house were taken to the police station for questioning by the Mohammadpur police station.
The householder’s name is Ashfaqul Haq, who was taken to the police station for questioning. He is the Executive Editor of Daily Star newspaper. Last year too, a case was filed against her in Mohammadpur police station on the allegation of torture of domestic workers.
Locals and eyewitnesses said that Preeti’s village house is in Moulvibazar. A few months ago, he came to work at house number 2/7, Shahjahan Road, Mohammadpur. Preeti’s body was hanging on the railing of the balcony on the 9th floor of that house. Witnesses say that the doorman did not open the door of the house despite repeated requests. At one stage the girl fell down.
Meanwhile, the police recovered Preeti’s body and sent it to Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital for post-mortem. In the morning after the incident, the police took Ashfaqul Haque and his wife to the police station for questioning.
Locals say that the same incident happened earlier in this house.
Mohammadpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mahfuzul Haque Bhuiya said, ‘Ashfakul Haque and his wife have been taken to the police station in this incident. Ashfaqul Haque claimed that his maid died after falling from the house. But we are looking into the matter and questioning them.’
OC also said, ‘Ashfakul’s claim, they were sleeping at that time. Later he wakes up and finds out that Preeti is lying under the house.
It is to be noted that earlier on August 5, the police rescued a maid named Ferdausi from this house of journalist Syed Ashfaqul Haque in a serious condition. Even then there was a case in the name of Ashfakul.
