The 96th Academy Awards and Oscar nominations were announced on Tuesday (January 23) evening Bangladesh time. Nominations have been announced in 23 categories for the most prestigious award in world cinema. The list was announced by actress Jacee Beats and actor Jack Quaid from the Samuel Goldwyn Theater in California. Al Jazeera news.

Christopher Nolan’s ‘Oppenheimer’ is the winner of this year’s nomination. It received nominations in 13 categories including Best Film, Best Director, Best Actor. This movie is based on J. Robert Oppenheimer, the father of atomic bomb.

Meanwhile, Yorgos Lanthimos’ ‘Poor Things’ is at the second position of the list with nominations in 11 categories including Best Movie, Best Actress. Apart from this, ‘Killers of the Flower Moon’ received 10 nominations, ‘Barbie’ 8 and ‘Maestro’ 7 categories.

The films that made it to the list of Best Picture nominations are – ‘American Fiction’, ‘Anatomy of a Fall’, ‘Barbie’, ‘The Holdovers’, ‘Killers of the Flower Moon’, ‘Maestro’, ‘Oppenheimer’, ‘Past Lives’ ‘, ‘Poor Things’ and ‘The Zone of Interest’.

Best Actor nominations went to Bradley Cooper (Maestro), Coleman Domingo (Rastin), Paul Zimmatti (The Holdovers), Cillian Murphy (Oppenheimer) and Geoffrey Wright (American Fiction).

Best actress nominations went to Annette Bening (Naiad), Lily Gladstone (Killers of the Flower Moon), Sandra Huller (Anatomy of a Fall), Carey Mulligan (Maestro) and Emma Storr (Poor Things).

The best director list includes Justin Triet (Anatomy of a Fall), Martin Scorsese (Killers of the Flower Moon), Christopher Nolan (Oppenheimer), Yorgos Lanthimos (Poor Things), Jonathan Glazer (The Zone of Interest).

Incidentally, the grand ceremony of the 96th Oscar will be held at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles on March 10. The award will be handed over to the finalists from the nominees. The show will be hosted by Jimmy Kimmel.
