Electric car maker giant Tesla has unveiled a new version of the Optimus robot. Last December 13, in a video posted on X, the new robot was revealed by Tesla Optimus. The video shows the robot exercising and frying eggs.
According to a report by Engadget, the first look of Tesla’s humanoid robot was seen last year. It is considered an important part of Elon Musk’s plan to automate manual labor and speed up the production process.
The second generation of the Optimus robot has improved functionality and sensors over the previous version. Tesla claims it is capable of operating 30 percent faster than its predecessor. In addition to improving the balance of the robot, its mass has also been reduced by up to 10 kg.
Tesla’s goal with the Optimus robot is to create an automated robot capable of performing dangerous, repetitive or tactile tasks. In a post on his social media account, Elon Musk said that the robot will be able to fill yarn with a needle within the next year. Musk believes the humanoid robot has the potential to overtake his company’s electric car business.
While announcing the introduction of robots in 2021, Musk said manual labor will also be an option in the future. It is likely to have a major impact on the economic sector as well.
The second-generation Optimus robot is considered a major breakthrough for Tesla. Because a year ago, the company released a prototype of the robot, which could not even walk.
Tesla has not yet given any information on the official release date or price of the new Optimus robot. According to Musk, a commercial version of the robot is expected to reach consumers within the next three to five years.
