Tejgaon train fire: 9 suspects arrested in joint operation

NSI and RAB arrested 9 people on suspicion of setting Mohanganj Express on fire at Tejgaon station in the capital. In a joint operation, the airport railway station and its surrounding areas were raided and arrested.

NSI and RAB raided the area from Thursday evening to 11:30 pm yesterday.

RAB-1 captain Lt. Colonel Muhammad Mostaq Ahmad confirmed this information. He said that the arrested 9 people are involved in various crimes including robbery, drug dealing in the airport railway station and surrounding areas. There are several cases against them. They have been detained for questioning as suspects in the Mohanganj Express fire incident.

This RAB official also claimed that they were used for sabotage in exchange of small money.

The captain of RAB-3 Lt. Col. Arif Mohiuddin Ahmed said on Thursday afternoon that the names and photographs of 4 to 5 suspects in the fire incident in Mohanganj Express train at Tejgaon have been found. They are kept under surveillance. Two of the arsonists are from opposition parties. The other two are floating.

Earlier, miscreants set fire to the Mohanganj Express train coming from Netrakona to Dhaka at Tejgaon station in the capital on Tuesday morning. It burnt 3 compartments of the train. The bodies of 4 people including mother and child were recovered from a compartment.
