Taskin Ahmed is now a regular face in the national team jersey. Taskin is now the country’s best pacer after overcoming injury and lack of form. But outside franchise cricket is an often neglected character. He is not taking the opportunity even though he has been getting opportunities for the past few years.

He did not play in several T20 leagues around the world, including the IPL, due to BCB’s objection to giving a no-objection. The latest example of which is the 2024 IPL auction.
Apart from Mustafizur Rahman, Taskin Ahmed and Shariful Islam were on the list of IPL auctions this year. However, a day before the auction, BCB informed Taskin-Shariful that they would not give the no-objection letter. Mostafiz got the right team, the Bangladeshi left-arm pacer will play for the 2024 IPL Chennai Super Kings.

Ever since Mustafiz got the team, Bangladeshi fans have expressed anger over Taskin’s not being named in the IPL auction. Pacer Taskin Ahmed has finally opened his mouth. He is disappointed that he could not play in franchise cricket including IPL.

Today in Mirpur, Taskin said, ‘This opportunity came three times (in IPL), this time too it was missed. It feels a little bad because as a cricketer everyone wants to participate in all the franchise leagues. Not only IPL, offers come from different leagues.’

So Taskin’s wishes are not fulfilled why? “The board actually does not want to give permission for various reasons. There are sports, there are health issues. I have spoken to the board this time too, they said they will consider it. But definitely don’t like to miss such franchises. Everyone wants to play, me too. I hope the same will happen again in the future,’ said Taskin.

Taskin could not play in the series against New Zealand due to injury. However, Taskin is hopeful that he will stay in BPL, ‘Better than before by the grace of God. Had a little shoulder problem. Masha Allah is better now than before. BPL is the goal, to start again with BPL. So I wish the beginning of the new year to be good again. Yes started bowling with full runup. I bowled 5 sessions with this. Feeling better than ever. But the BPL still has almost two more weeks to go. Aim to start with that if all is well. So far BPL is the plan.’
