On the last day of campaigning for the national elections of Jatiya Sangsad, the supporters of Mizanur Rahman Chowdhury, an independent candidate, held an election procession in Narsingdi-5 (Raipura) Constituency with ‘Live Eagle’.

This incident took place in Mirzanagar Union of Raipura Upazila on Thursday afternoon. At this time, activists-supporters of independent candidates joined the election rally with live eagle birds at Islampur Bahumukhi High School grounds.

Locals said that a procession from Banshgari in Char area of ​​the upazila joined the public meeting in support of Mizanur Rahman Chowdhury, the candidate for the eagle symbol. At this time, they are seen cheering and marching with the live eagle with them. At this time, they danced with different slogans while holding the legs and wings of the eagle.

When there was a reaction among the people present on the issue, Awami League leader Riyad Ahmed Sarkar, a supporter of the independent candidate, showed the eagle bird in his hand and asked the activists to remove the bird saying “problem, problem”.

Even after that, the supporters continued to march with the bird for a long time. In this the bird became dull, tried to fly the bird but could not fly and fell to the ground several times with flapping wings. Later, the bird was thrown on the roof of the school with a stone.

Suman Mia, supporter of independent candidate Mizanur Rahman Chowdhury, said, ‘I caught the bird to show people and cheer. But I will leave it.

Upazila Assistant Returning Officer Roslin Shahid Chowdhury said, ‘I just heard about this. This is certainly a violation of the Election Code of Conduct. I will look into the matter and take action’.
