Chairman of Jatiya Party and Member of Parliament of Rangpur-3 Sadar Constituency Golam Mohammad (GM) Quader said that he has not received any official letter of becoming an opposition party yet. He said this in response to Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader’s statement in the Parliament that ‘National Party is becoming an opposition party’ while talking to reporters at his ancestral residence Skyview in Rangpur city on Monday afternoon.

Earlier, ruling Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader indicated that Jatiya Party is the main opposition party as it got the second highest number of seats. Jatiya Party Chairman GM Quader sees this gesture as normal. However, whether the announcement is made or not, the Jatiya Party will play the role of the opposition party, said the chairman of the party.

GM Quader said, ‘According to the rules, we will be the opposition party. But I haven’t received a letter or announcement officially yet.’

JAPA Chairman said, ‘The National Party will always continue to speak about the government’s mistakes in Parliament and outside, speak for the people. Two challenges are facing the government, rising commodity prices and political instability. It is not possible to say how much the government will be able to face this challenge.

GM Quader also said, ‘The overall situation of the country is not good. The suffering of people is increasing due to the increase in commodity prices. Along with that, people’s job opportunities are decreasing. Because of that, the condition of the people of the country is not good. Anger is growing among people. It needs to be overcome. The sooner the transition the better.’

‘Until now we cannot be sure whether political stability will come through this election or not. However, the challenge of this government going forward is to reduce commodity prices and political stability. When political stability comes, many challenges will be reduced.’- said JAPA Chairman.

District Jatiya Party Member Secretary Abdur Razzak, Metropolitan Jatiya Party General Secretary SM Yasir, Central Cultural Secretary Ajmal Hossain Lebu and other leaders and activists were present. Later, he visited the Bihari camp in the station area and interacted with traders in Gudri Bazar.
