Special initiative to control the use of legal firearms in Chittagong around elections

The administration has taken a special initiative to control the use of legal firearms in Chittagong around the upcoming parliamentary elections. In the meantime, the public security department of the Ministry of Home Affairs has also issued a notification about the use of weapons by license holders.

Law enforcers say that no concession will be made to those who use these weapons to avoid any violence in the elections.

There are 3,449 legal arms in Chittagong. Single-barreled and double-barreled guns, shotguns, pistols, revolvers and rifles are used by people of various professions and organizations.

The Ministry of Home Affairs has banned the carrying, display and use of all types of firearms from December 18 around the upcoming elections. Chittagong District Commissioner Abul Basar Mohammad Fakhruzzaman said that the administration has started working to fulfill this order.

Chittagong Metropolitan Police Deputy Commissioner Mostafizur Rahman said, misusing these weapons in party identity will not get away. The law and order forces are in a strict position to control the use of these weapons around the elections.

The Public Security Department of the Ministry of Home Affairs has suspended the new license and renewal of firearms during the election period.
