A notification in this regard has been issued by the Cabinet Department on Wednesday. Cabinet Secretary Md. signed the notification by order of the President. Mahbub Hossain.
According to the notification, the President of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh has given the decision to appoint Sheikh Hasina as the Prime Minister, who is trusted by the majority of the members of the 12th National Parliament, according to Clause (3) of Article 56 of the Constitution of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh and has consented to the formation of a new cabinet under her leadership.
The notification states that the existing cabinet will be deemed to be dissolved with the formation of the new cabinet.
Earlier, Awami League got 222 seats out of 298 seats in the 12th National Parliament Election on January 7. Independent candidates have won 62 seats. Jatiya Party (JPA) won only 11 seats. Jasad, Workers Party and Bangladesh Welfare Party have won 1 seat each.
