Independent candidate of Eagle Prateek in Faridpur-3 (Sadar) constituency has complained that the boat candidate and supporters are destroying the fair polling environment by attacking, suing, intimidation and arresting the leaders and workers of the independent candidate. K. Azad

He made these allegations in a press conference held at Jhiltuli’s residence in Faridpur city on Saturday afternoon, the day before the election. Azad said that Eagle supporters were being threatened from house to house even last night.

Claiming that the image of the government is being damaged by threats, Azad requested the administration to keep the polling ground peaceful.

A. K. Azad said that District Awami League President Shamim Haque and his supporters are trying to destroy the public support for Eagle in this mission of making Bangladesh free from unemployment and hunger. This boat candidate is creating obstacles in various ways. Attacks, lawsuits, and intimidation have continued on Eagle supporter leaders and workers since the allocation of symbols on December 18. Even after filing 5 cases and 14 general diaries in these incidents, no effective action was taken except for one.

This candidate of Eagle symbol said that last night also in Ward No. 15 of the city, he was caught by the locals with petrol bombs while setting fire to his camp at night. He was a boatman. He was handed over to the police.

Azad also accused the boat workers of setting fire to their camp and filing false cases against his workers.

Central Awami League member Vipul Ghosh, district Awami League joint general secretary Shaukat Ali Zahid, district women’s league general secretary Nusrat Tania and other local leaders and activists were present at the press conference.
