The United People’s Democratic Front-UPDF has called for morning-evening road blockade in Khagrachari tomorrow Monday to protest the killing of 4 leaders of the party.
In a press statement sent to the media on Sunday afternoon, UPDF spokesperson and Khagrachari district organizer Angya said, “We have called upon the people of the district to make the pre-announced morning-evening peaceful road blockade program in Khagrachari district a success.”
He said that during the blockade, ambulances carrying patients, vehicles used for supplying emergency power and medicine, vehicles carrying newspapers and journalists will remain exempt from the blockade.
Incidentally, four UPDF leaders including Vipul Chakma, Suniltripura, Liton Chakma and Ruhin Bikash Tripura were shot dead by miscreants in Anil Para of No. 1 Logang UP of Panchari Upazila on the night of December 11. In this incident, the security forces rescued three leaders and activists of the organization who were missing on Thursday night.
The UPDF blamed the democratic UPDF for the murder. However, the democratic UPDF has denied this allegation.
