Gaza’s Rafah Zoo faces acute food shortage due to continued Israeli attacks. Many animals and birds are sick of starvation. On the other hand, many homeless Palestinians have taken refuge in zoos to escape Israeli brutality. The news agency AFP reported this information.

Ahmed Goma, the owner of Rafa Zoo, said that the condition of hungry animals is getting worse day by day.

He said, the situation here is very bad. No food, water or medicine. We try to feed the lions once a week now. But sometimes that is not possible. 4 monkeys have already died. And the condition of another is so bad that he cannot even eat by himself.

To save two lion cubs, they are given dry bread soaked in water. They are becoming weak.

A veterinarian at Rafa Zoo said that animals are dying or getting sick every day.

On the other hand, many homeless Palestinians have taken shelter in this zoo to survive. One of them, Adel Goma, is now sheltered here with his family. They live in plastic tents next to the animal cages.

Displaced Palestinian Adel Goma said it is very difficult to live without a home. No food and water. Along with humans, animals and birds also have to fight to survive. Hungry birds call out from inside the cage. But we can do nothing for them.

The zoo authorities have appealed to international and local organizations to preserve food for the animals along with being compassionate towards them.
