A presiding officer and a polling officer of a center in Shariatpur-2 constituency have been removed due to neglect of duty in the 12th National Assembly elections.

The incident took place at Charbhaga Akkach Ali Howladar Bari Government Primary School No. 79 center of this constituency around 1 pm on Sunday. They are polling officer Hasina Akhter and presiding officer Muha. Abdus Samad Noori.

According to district returning officer sources, the polling started at 8 am at Charbhaga Akkach Ali Howladar Bari Government Primary School Centre. Central polling officer Hasina Akhter helps elderly voters to fold the ballot paper and put it in the box.

The presiding officer of Charbhaga Akkach Ali Hawladar Bari Government Primary School No. 79 center said, “The center’s polling officer Hasina Akhtar has been removed from duty because of helping the elderly voters to fry the ballot paper and put it in the box”.

District Returning Officer Mohammad Nizam Uddin Ahmed said that voters have been casting their votes peacefully since morning. Voter turnout was satisfactory. However, the presiding and polling officer who neglected his duty in center No. 79 of Shariatpur-2 constituency has been removed.
