According to the data of the Central Bank, 2 thousand 191 million dollars of remittances came to the country in the outgoing year. In the previous year, i.e. in 2022, this amount of expatriate income was 1 thousand 964 crores. That is, last year expatriate income expatriate income increased by 11 percent.

It also informed that, in the last month of 2023, the banks received 1.99 billion dollars (198 million 98 million dollars) remittance. And in December 2022, remittances reached 1.7 billion dollars. Remittances in December were the highest in the last six months.

In the first month of the fiscal year 2023-24, there is another shock in the expatriate income. Remittances decreased to $197.31 million in July. In the next month, August, 159 million 94 million dollars came to the country with a decrease of 21.47 percent compared to the previous year. In September it further decreased to 134 crore 34 lakh dollars.

Bangladesh Bank said that in the first 6 months (July-December) of the current fiscal year 2023-24, expatriates remitted $10.79 billion through banking channels, which is 2.90% more than the same period of the previous fiscal year. Expatriates remitted $10.49 billion during this period in the fiscal year 2022-23. The growth was 2.48 percent.

At the end of November last year, the country received 193 million dollars of expatriate income, which is 21% more than the same month of the previous year.

In July, the first month of fiscal year 2023-24, remittances decreased by $197.31 million. In the next month August, 21.47% less than the previous year, 159 million 94 million dollars came to the country. In September it further decreased to 134 crore 34 lakh dollars.

In the first 6 months of the last fiscal year 2022-23, remittances came in at 1,493,400,000 dollars. According to that, in the first 6 months of the current financial year, 305 million dollars more than the first 6 months of the last fiscal year.

Earlier, Bangladesh Bank had said that the remittance flow would exceed $2 billion by the end of December.
